HOW TO USE THE BUCKET TEST TO CONFIRM IF YOUR POOL IS LEAKING

The Bucket Test can be used to determine if you have a leak in a swimming pool. Follow these 5 steps to discover if you have a leak in your pool:

1

FILL A NORMAL BUCKET WITH POOL WATER

Fill a regular bucket to 1-2 inches from the top with water from your swimming pool. Using water from the pool ensures the water temperature is the same allowing equal levels of evaporation to occur.

2

CAREFULLY PLACE THE BUCKET IN THE POOL

Position the bucket inside the pool so that the water in the bucket is level with the water outside the bucket. The steps into the pool is the best place to do the bucket test. Ensure the bucket is held in place by putting something heavy into the bucket.

3

MAKE MARKS OF THE WATER LEVEL

Mark the water levels inside and outside the bucket using a tape or a water resistant marker. Marking is important as these marks will show you if the water level inside the pool drops.

4

MONITOR AND WAIT FOR 24HRS

Ensure unnecessary disturbance of the pool for 24 hours. Check the water levels in the bucket and swimming pool. If the water level in the bucket and pool remains the same, then there is no leak in the pool. If the water level in the pool has dropped more than the water level in the bucket, then there is a leak in the pool.

5

REPEAT THE TEST UNDER DIFFERENT CONDITIONS

Repeat the test with the pool pump off. The results could help stipulate if the leak is in filtration system or the pool structure.

Our Company Engineers Are Only Allocated
One Job Per Day

By its very nature, water leak detection can be a slow and complicated process; let’s face it, if it wasn’t, then everyone would be doing it. That is why we only give our engineers one job per day so that they can take their time and solve your swimming pool leak problem on the day of their visit. They are not under any pressure to rush or get to another job, which sets us apart from the competition. If we are able to access the leak on the same day then we may be able to carry out a repair for you.
